The ‘Admiral Vladimirskiy’ oceanographic research ship of the Russian Navy has left the Antarctic.

The ship has laid a course for the South African port of Cape Town where it is scheduled to arrive on March 3.

Russian Defense ministry reports that the sailing is in routine mode; both crew and expeditionists feel fine and proceed with the route research.

Having spent one month in the seas around the Antarctic, the ship has successfully accomplished the task of the main stage of the expedition. Military hydrographers have performed multiple survey of three sea areas. The research results are now being analyzed, and after the ship returns to Kronshtadt in three months, they will be reported to the Russian Navy command.

Details of the hydrographic expedition to the Antarctic, which was the first over last 30 years, as well as results of the White continent seas’ research, are due to be released in spring.

We remind that early in 2015 the ‘Admiral Vladimirskiy’ came back from a round-the-world voyage. It was also the first world voyage of a Russian Navy vessel over three decades.
