The 9 mm Makarov pistol (PM) was adopted in 1951, and has been the mass standard weapon of the Russian army and security services ever since.
The PM magazine contains eight 9x18 mm cartridges. The 12 cartridges-hosting PMM (upgraded Makarov pistol) was produced in 1994.
