The “Rosvertol” enterprise, part of the “Russian Helicopters” group, will deliver the Mi-26T2 heavy helicopters to Algeria.

Two contracts have already been concluded. The former requires delivery of six helicopters to the customer; the latter requires delivery of the eight, reports Interfax – MNA citing the source in the military industry.

This spring Russia has transferred to Algeria the first two Mi-26T2s. Another two helicopters will be transferred in the year-end the latest. The two remaining – early next year. Later on they are going to carry out the deliveries required by the second contract, which is supposed to be fulfilled in 2017.

In addition to helicopters deliveries Russia is going to provide training for pilots and service personnel.

The Mi-26T2 is an upgraded version of the Mi-26T heavy-duty helicopter. The new craft got modern avionics, which allows reducing the number of crewmembers from five to two or three. For instance, the helicopter is equipped with five LCD-displays, remote controllers, a set of duplicate electromechanical instruments as well as upgraded digital communications complex. Night flight and wretched weather conditions capabilities are also increased.

Be reminded that the Mi-26T is considered the record-holder for weight lifting. It can carry up to 20 tons of load in the cabin or on the external load.
