4 brand-new frontal aircraft have entered service with the Southern military district.
“The planes have conducted over 4 thousand kilometers’ flight from aviation plant in Irkutsk with 2 landings for refueling at airfields in Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk region”, — the SMD press-service reports.
The two-seated multifunctional Su-30SM fighter jet will replace the Su-27 frontline fighter. The new craft can equally efficiently kill air, land as well as surface targets.
The Su-30SM is equipped with the ‘Bars’ radar station that can detect over 15 air targets at a time while firing at 4 of them. The proved detection range of the radar is at least 150 km.
The Su-30SM is an upgraded version of the Su-30. The Su-30SM is a supermaneuverable jet equipped with phased antenna array radar, capable of using modern as well as advanced precise air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons.
