RIA Novosti reports that Sergei Lavrov, head of the Russian foreign policy, considers terrorist threat in Turkey to be growing.

According to him, the number of signs of terrorist activity in Turkey has now reached boiling point — no less so than it has in Egypt.

“We certainly don’t recommend Russian citizens to visit Turkey for tourism or any other purposes whatsoever” – Lavrov noted.

On November 24, 2015 the Russian Su-24 frontline bomber crashed in Syria close to Turkish border. The plane was hit by the air-to-air missile launched from the Turkish F-16 fighter-jet at a height of 6 thousand meters within 1 km range from the Turkish border. Russian craft was exclusively over the Syrian territory and had not violated any borders.

Turkish prime-minister Akhmet Davutoglu said that Russian plane Su-24 had violated the international space, therefore it had been hit.

Vladimir Putin’s reaction was very stern. He said Russia would not tolerate crimes like this attack on the Russian Su-24 bomber.
