‘Tupolev’ company has delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces the upgraded aircraft.

The company’s web site reports that another upgraded Tu-95MS has entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. Experts of the Zhukovskiy air-test base, the OJSC ‘Tupolev’ branch, had carried out works as part of state contract.

“The Tu-95MS is most essential for the Russian Aerospace Forces. The missile carrier is an important component of the nuclear deterrence forces. The Tu-95MS’ range of action is similar to the one of the next generation aircraft. Due to the upgrade they have managed to increase system’s target application efficiency”, — general-lieutenant Anatoly Zhikharev, Commander of the Russian Long-range aviation, said.

The Tu-95MS is the oldest and the most honored aircraft of the Russian Air Force. It is a strategic bomber, which still makes the bulk of the long-range aviation. Nicknamed a ‘Bear’ in the West, it is rightfully considered one of the symbols of the Cold War.
