Russian Armed Forces are likely to be reinforced at the western and central directions.
Interfax-MNA says that colonel general Oleg Salyukov, Commander in chief of the ground Forces, reported the news. In 2016 they intend to organize 3 divisions at the western direction and 1 at the central direction. All divisions will be founded on the basis of already existing brigades.
“Organizing the divisions is a response to increased NATO’s exercise activity, which we’ve been observing lately”, — Salyukov said.
Russian Defense minister Sergei Shoygu earlier reported on founding 3 divisions at the western direction, noting that it was a priority task.
He stressed that it was necessary not just to organize the divisions but also to accommodate home bases, for instance, to make firing grounds, equipment storages and personnel location sites.
