Brand new combat vehicles have been captured on video about counterterrorist operation near Makhachkala.

Viewers could see ‘Tigr’ combat vehicles with armored turret as well as odd-looking ‘Falkatus’ during special operation of the Dagestani FSB and MVD in Leninkent village on April 13-14.

‘Falkatus’, better known as ‘Karatel’, was developed for the FSB CSN. Since 2010 Moscow-based ZAO ‘Fort-Tekhnologiya’ has been developing the ‘Karatel’ AMO ZIL invention for the Russian Defense Ministry. There are a few different pilot models of ‘Falkatus’ made on the base of the KAMAZ-4911 two-axle chassis. The full combat weight is 12 tons.

The vehicle was named after arced Celtic sword or the modern shark’s ancestor, which used to live 320 million years ago. Mass-media and internet users informally call it ‘Karatel’.
